FAQ
Q: What is "EFT"?
A: The abbreviation "EFT" stands for "Emotional Freedom Techniques", a name given this method because it frees you from the emotional reactions you would rather not have, and allows you to be at your emotional best in any situation. EFT is being used by practitioners in many parts of the world, and by individuals in all walks of life, to bring down stress rapidly. It can often eliminate severe lifelong fears within a short period of time, and is increasingly used by mental health professionals for this purpose.
Q: How do I know if EFT will work for me?
A: While the odds are in your favor (about 80 – 90% of people respond extremely well to the technique) you cannot be sure EFT will work for you unless you try it.
Q: Can EFT help with panic attacks?
A: EFT can be used to reduce and sometimes to eliminate panic attacks entirely, but if you want to use EFT for very severe panic attacks you should do so with the assistance of a skilled mental health professional. Working under the supervision of such a trained person, you may get remarkable help from EFT and it often moves traditional therapy forward much more rapidly.
Q: Is EFT useful for phobias such as fear of flying, fear of public speaking, fear of heights, spiders etc. ?
A: EFT is so effective in overcoming phobias that it is likely to become the treatment of choice for them in the future when it is more widely known. A specific phobia can frequently (although not always) be eliminated in one or two EFT sessions. Many phobias can be treated by the person him or herself using the Introduction to EFT course. However, some complex phobias may need the assistance of an EFT-trained practitioner in order to fully overcome them.
Q: Why do I need DVDs? Why can't I learn EFT from a friend, or from seeing a diagram of the tapping spots or reading a short description of them?
A: You may learn the bare bones of EFT this way, and this certainly can work for certain purposes. If your problem is at all complex, however, with many facets to it (and most problems are) then you will need to know some fundamental troubleshooting skills in order to make EFT work for you. The course which Dr. Carrington teaches, Introduction to EFT, shows you everything you need to know to make EFT powerfully effective for a large number of life challenges. If it doesn't work in your particular case, you can simply return the course materials to us and get your money back.
Q: How can one single method like EFT possibly clear up so many different kinds of problems?
A: Because it is based on the use of acupuncture points which are natural comfort spots on the body and therefore balances the energy system upon which the body operates. If the electricity in a house is turned off, or certain circuits are blown, many things in the house do not work. However, if someone turns the electricity on again and the current flows smoothly, everything from electric lights, to computers, to hair dryers to TV's etc. function well again. The flow of energy provides an overall "cure" for much of the house. It is the same with energy blockages in the human system — once the blocks are cleared and the energy allowed to flow freely again, the body-mind now functions entirely differently and produces many positive effects.
Q: How lasting are the results of EFT? Won't my problem just return later?
A: If you clear up a problem thoroughly using EFT, about 80 percent of the time it is gone permanently. In those cases where it does recur, this is usually because there were other aspects of that problem which weren't addressed the first time through. These will now simply be treated in their own right, using EFT, for the change to become permanent.
Q: I often receive literature in the mail telling me about "miracle" cures for one thing or another. How do I know this isn't just one more of those exaggerated claims?
A: No matter how much I reassure you, you won't really know about the value of EFT until you try it. You will still want to see for yourself that it works. Take some time to explore EFT, you are certain to discover the truth about its usefulness for you.
Q: There must be some drawbacks to EFT, what are they?
A: There are no real drawbacks involved in using EFT, but there are some limits to the types of conditions that it can be used for. For example, it is not advisable to use EFT for the treatment of deep-seated psychiatric problems except under the guidance of a qualified mental health professional who is experienced with EFT. Fortunately, there are a growing number of such EFT-trained professionals, and on the emofree.com website you can locate such a practitioner.
Q: I prefer not to talk about some of the problems that trouble me. Is it possible to work on some of my deeper issues with EFT without having to reveal the details?
A: This is one of the great advantages of this method. Many traumas have been successfully treated by using EFT without the person having to state what they were "tapping" for. One way you may accomplish this is to simply use a code for your issue. For example a color, or just a random word would be used rather than the specifics of the issue. Your brain knows what you are working on, so it will respond. I have used this method sucessfully with many clients.
Q: Can EFT be used for children?
A: It can be and has been used very successfully for many children. Only a few modifications in the basic procedure are required to make EFT highly effective for children.
